PRESIDENT’S LETTER

Dr Cheung – President

DEAR FELLOW MEMBERS,

Thank you for giving me the privilege to serve as your President for this year. This is my final letter to you as President and I have enjoyed working for all of you. In this process, I have learned a lot about the behind-the-scenes Club operations, and have had many opportunities to meet our members and employees.

We have had a successful year by all measures. I would like to thank my fellow Board of Directors for contributing to this success and the TCC staff for executing the strategies of the Board.

I joined the Board in 2010, and I have taken far more away than I ever could have expected. I am proud of the progress made by our Club over the last nine years. We know there are many city clubs around the world providing excellent service to their members. Our Board is particularly proud of the fact that we are considered to be in the top 100 City Clubs globally as selected by Platinum Clubs of the World once again for 2020 & 2021. We are in elite company indeed and as a member, you should be proud of this honour.

Our Club has seen growth over the past year in the areas of membership, member participation in Club events and overall improvements in our Clubs business levels including catering, restaurants, visits to the Fitness Centre, commercial space, and parking. During this year, we have successfully completed two major construction projects: the front entrance and the Members’ Lounge. We have also reduced our long term bank loans by approximately $1 million.

We believe that a commitment to innovative thinking and making member experience a top priority by both our Board and Management has allowed us to produce these remarkable results. A great deal of thanks should be passed along to our Past Presidents, as well as past and current Directors for their time, effort and foresight. As President, I have had numerous opportunities to interact with many of our employees. I am most impressed by their energy and devotion in their services.

Looking forward, our Board will continue our strategy to enhance member experiences by further improving our services and facilities. At the same time, we shall continue to reduce our bank debt, as this is the best risk management measure against future economic downturns.Hopefully you will be able to attend our AGM on Tuesday, December 10 to learn more about the past year.

All that is left for me to do is to wish you and your family and friends the best this holiday season! We hope you have a chance to bring your crew and celebrate in style at the Club in the weeks ahead, some of the upcoming festive events include:

  • December 6, 13, 19, 20 are our Christmas Lunch Buffets
  • December 11 & 19 enjoy our Christmas Dinner Buffets
  • December 15: limited tickets remain for Dickens’ Brunch; word is Santa will be in attendance

I hope to see you around the Club.
Sincerely,

Dr. Ignatius Cheung
Terminal City Club President
