It must be fall in Vancouver – I see we broke a record for days of rain in October. Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to be dampening spirits, as lots is happening and the Club continues to buzz with good energy. I’m pleased to report that despite being closed for renovations for a month last January, this past fiscal year has been a very successful one for Terminal City Club, with most targets met or exceeded, and a net increase of 74 new members!

I invite all our members to hear more about the Club’s fiscal status and future plans at this year’s Annual General Meeting, taking place on December 12 beginning at 10 a.m. I hope to see you there. Special thanks this month to our auditors Smyth, whose team is busy wrapping up our audited financial statements in time for the AGM.

Knowing that our business is healthy and on track makes it that much more fun to enjoy all the events coming up. Our annual fall gala – this year themed Scandal – sold out three weeks before the party, but there are still lots of other great opportunities to make the most of your membership before the end of 2016.

My family’s highlight is always the Dickens’ Brunch which is being held on Sunday, December 11. The appearance of Santa with an image for kids big and small to go home with makes it special, and the incredible culinary spread is truly magic. (But this event sells out early every year, so make sure to reserve your tickets right away with Member Services.) Our new Kids’ Club is also up and running now. Registered children will receive a personalized membership card, stamp card, and access to exclusive Kids’ Club events. Every time they visit the Club, they can stop by Member Services to receive a stamp! Collect 10 stamps and get a complimentary kids dessert from The Grill.

For those of us who are focused on business, remember that your TCC membership is an excellent asset when it comes to hosting colleagues or clients. Our catering department and unique spaces can beautifully accommodate everything from small off-site meetings to strategic planning sessions for 2017, a special seasonal dinner for staff, or a smashing holiday party for up to 500. And if you are travelling this fall, remember to take a look at our list of affiliate clubs before you go. Your TCC membership gives you access to exclusive clubs all over the world – don’t overlook this excellent perk!

As we move into the heady holiday season, just a reminder of some Club policies that remain in effect and important to your fellow members. Mobile devices must be set on silent; talking on cell phones is only permitted in the Business Centre, phone rooms, and lobby area. Texting and emailing on silent is okay. This policy applies to all our members and guests, so  ensure that if you need to use your mobile for a call, you do so only in the permitted areas.

My sincere thanks to all our members, as well as our staff, for helping to make this another successful year for Terminal City Club. I look forward to seeing you at our AGM in December, and around the Club in the coming weeks.
