January is a natural time to refresh and renew, and Terminal City Club is no exception. We are looking forward to introducing the newly updated areas of the Fitness Centre, and pool in the near future. In the meantime, the rest of the Club is open for business – including the Lions Pub, Cuvée, 1892, and the Grill.
Updates to the Fitness Centre locker rooms and lounge area are coming along well. Shower stalls are in the process of being re-tiled, and replacement of the floor will follow shortly. We are on track to open our brighter and more user-friendly locker rooms and lounge on February 1, just in time for our 45-day Fitness Challenge.
As with all renovations, this project has not been without surprises and challenges. We have encountered delays in some areas, but our contractor (CT-1) has worked with us to address any issues appropriately, and keep the work moving along. One issue that could only have been identified mid-project was the condition of the concrete pool lining, which became evident once the pool was drained. Upon review of the options, and advice of engineers and contractors, our Board has made the decision to re-tile the pool instead of simply patching the concrete. This is a long-term solution rather than a short-term fix, and although it extends the duration of the renovations somewhat, it will also extend the life of the pool and help us avoid concrete repairs in the near future. We anticipate that this work will be completed, and the hot tub and pool will re-open, on February 22.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our members, for your patience while your Club facilities are updated. We are excited to be “back in the saddle” after the holidays, and I look forward to seeing you around the Club soon. When the pool and hot tub are completed, I personally will be so excited that I may schedule a public cannonball demonstration!
