Spring is finally here – the mornings are brighter, and the evenings are beginning to last a little bit longer. The change of seasons often inspires a surge of energy, and I hope each of you are feeling a little bit of that. Behind the scenes at the Club, preparations are underway for patio season, summer weddings, fresh menus, and all those events that help us make the most of the sunny season.
With the renewed energy that the spring brings, perhaps you would like to renew your focus on your personal fitness regime. The TCC Fitness Centre has two great options to help you do just that: a new, four-week Full-body Intensity Training (F.I.T.) class on Tuesdays at lunch, and/or the 99km Swim Challenge (three months to complete 99km, pr 1,980 laps – I think that’s like crossing the Georgia Strait!). Visit the Fitness Centre Front Desk for all the details.
Thanks to all of you who used that extra energy to complete this year’s Member Survey. Your input is valuable, and will inform the discussion later this month as our Board and executive undertake annual strategic planning and prioritizing sessions. In addition, I would like to immediately share with you a couple of the common themes that appeared frequently in this year’s responses:
– Cell phone etiquette (or lack thereof)
– Adherence to dress code (or, again, lack thereof)
Club policies on both of these items are outlined in the House Rules, email reminders, and on page 4 of this newsletter. On behalf of all your fellow members, I respectfully request that you ensure you are familiar with the policies, and also that you remember that policies apply to our guests as well as our Members. Following this Member Survey feedback, TCC staff have been asked to be more attentive to enforcing our House Rules. (But don’t forget: the Lions Pub is exempt from dress code and cell phone use restrictions, and Members receive 10% off food. So if it turns out that you or your guests just aren’t dressed appropriately on any given day, the pub is an excellent alternative.)
I’m pleased to report that we have been joined by 115 new members since the beginning of this fiscal year in October. I would like to extend my personal welcome to all our new members, and hope that (if we haven’t already) we will have an opportunity to become acquainted at one of so many events coming up:
– Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday, May 13 (book now as it always fills up).
– Dueling Pianos on Thursday, May 17 (if you have never experienced this amazing performance, do not miss it!)
– Happy Hour in Cuvée, Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
– The Fitness Centre Patio, to open for service, May 23 (weather permitting)
– Father’s Day BBQ on June 17
As most of you are aware, we embarked on an aggressive marketing program to grow our membership base to 1892 shareholding members. 1892 just happened to be the magic number that makes our Club full but still allows us to provide plenty of quality services. We are nearing that target. We are also now actively looking at when would be the right time to increase our membership subscription fee to the level that was prior to our marketing program. It was certainly a lot higher than the amount we are charging now. If you know someone or can think of someone who would like to benefit from the reduced subscription fee, I strongly suggest you ask those people to consider joining sooner than later. If you would like to treat a friend or colleague to a visit, our Membership team would be pleased to give them a tour of the Club. Email email@example.com or text us at 604-200-2279 to set up a time.
