Here we are already – March. The air is crisp, the days are lengthening, the trees are eager to bloom. The arrival of spring also brings a renewed sense of hope and anticipation that energizes and inspires us.

 

One of the purest expressions of hope is a wedding, and Terminal City Club is honoured to be hosting 60 weddings in 2016, with another 18 booked so far for 2017. In fact, for the fifth year in a row, our Club has been named one of the top three Best Wedding Reception Venues by the Professional BC Wedding Awards.

 

Not all wedding events are invite-only, so if you or someone you know is planning to tie the knot, don’t miss Terminal City Club’s Hush Wedding Soirée, a remarkable celebration hosted here at the Club on the evening of Saturday, March 5. Both floors of the Club will be transformed by extravagant décor, models donning exquisite gowns, bubbles and bites, live entertainment, and endless inspiration. Lucky for us, “hope” is not required with respect to our financial position in this second quarter. To date, membership numbers are tracking very well and our catering business steady, thanks to the Club’s reputation as an exceptional venue for meetings, business events, or weddings. I can attest to this, having personally hosted Christmas parties, off-site planning days, and round-table events for five to 120 people over the past few years. I am always impressed by the team, and by the compliments I have received from guests after each event. Preferential member rates make Terminal City Club even more appealing, so I encourage you to speak to our catering team the next time you plan a meeting or business event.

 

The second quarter is also the time that we ask you, our members, to help us to keep doing the good, improve the bad, and throw out the ugly. It’s Member Survey time. Watch for yours arriving via email. The results from the 400 members who completed last year’s survey helped to guide our Board of Directors and staff on initiatives to improve the Fitness Centre and enhance our outdoor patio spaces. Your feedback is valuable, so please participate!

 

Congratulations to all those members who will soon complete the 45-Day Fitness Challenge. Personally, I am a little behind on the curve, but this is the season of hope, right? As I grind my way through to the end of the challenge, I’m thrilled that our Fitness Centre is now open. With the pool filled, dome scrubbed, and tiles gleaming, we have a marvelous way to enjoy staying in shape. CT1, our General Contractor and entire project team, should be congratulated for the completion of this project in such a timely manner. (Page 8 & 9 of the newsletter shows some of the before, during and after photos of the Fitness Centre project.)

 

A few events you should add to your calendar. The ever popular Meet Me At The Bar continues at Cuvée each Wednesday at 5 p.m., with live music and engaging conversation. We’ll be honouring tradition with a splendid Throwback Thursday Gourmet Dinner on March 31, which promises to be a night to remember. And finally, one of my favourite family events, Easter Brunch, falls on March 27 this year.

 

Thank you to all of our members for your continued support and active involvement in our Club. I know that an important factor in our success is the fact that our members are out and about talking about us, and bringing friends and colleagues around to enjoy the Terminal City Club experience. Please keep it up – it benefits all of us!

Dress Code: Smart Casual

Unless otherwise specified, all areas of the Club, including the Grill Room, 1892, Cuvée Wine Bar, patios and private function rooms have a dress code of smart casual. Smart casual attire includes collared or turtle neck shirts, golf or knee length shorts, and dress pants. Similar attire is required for ladies. Denim is acceptable provided a collared shirt is worn and denim is of a solid colour with no fading, tears or patches.

All footwear is to be clean and smart. Casual thong footwear is not permitted outside of the fitness centre.
