Happy Spring. I hope many of you had an opportunity to bask in the welcome sunshine over Easter weekend. And I know that many of you and your families enjoyed our annual Terminal City Club Easter Brunch — what a celebration! Our culinary team put forth a fantastic spread, and it was a pleasure to see our Club host so many families of all ages. The lively atmosphere seemed very fitting for spring indeed.

 

We have now reached the halfway mark in our fiscal year, and I am pleased to report that results across most of our key performance indicators continue to be positive. With the building renovations now complete, the team is focused on other improvements. One area that I believe is under-utilized is our beautiful outdoor space, particularly the patio adjacent to the Fitness Centre. I have tasked our management team with presenting ideas at our Board’s upcoming planning day, with respect to how we might better use this space for our members this summer.
Your ideas are also welcome, and a perfect vehicle to communicate them is our Member Survey. The survey is an important tool to help our Board ensure that future planning is not only strategic, but also reflects the desires of our members. Last year’s survey was completed by approximately one-third of our members, and we hope to raise that to at least half this year. Please watch for the survey in your inbox next week. I encourage you to complete the survey and to use this opportunity to let us know what you think is good, and which areas need improvement. Thank you in advance for your participation.

 

Speaking of participation, 17 dedicated TCC members completed this year’s 45 Day Fitness Challenge. Congratulations to all those fit members who completed 45 workouts in 60 days. In case you wish to high-five them yourself, you’ll find their names listed on page 8 of the newsletter. A special shout-out goes to Paul McGavin who had a perfect attendance – 60 workouts in 60 days. Remarkable!

Those of you who park regularly in the Terminal City Club parking lot will notice some changes in the coming months. Last summer the Board issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to update our parking facilities. The goal stated in the RFP was to improve the lot’s ingress and egress systems and the user experience, as well as to maximize revenues. Five reputable companies responded to the RFP with comprehensive proposals for review. After significant discussion and vetting of proposed solutions, the Board has made the decision to implement a user-friendly Pay-on-Foot parking solution, working with our incumbent partner Impark. The implementation will take place in early summer, with a three month phased-in approach. I’m confident that our members and the public will find an improved experience, and that these changes will help to ensure that our parking facilities continue to be an important part of the Club’s overall sustainability.

 

The weather forecast this week is for blue skies ahead – now is the time to book your off-site planning sessions, summer staff appreciation BBQ events, or client celebration dinners. Our catering department can help you with any of your summer entertaining needs. And closer to home, don’t forget that Mother’s Day is just over a month away. Terminal City Club’s Mother’s Day Brunch is the way to go, but just like our Easter Brunch, it sells out early so don’t wait to book. We all know that no one is happy when Mom is disappointed. Get on it today.

 

I hope you will continue to explore and enjoy all the opportunities that Terminal City Club membership offers. Whether it’s a member event, a visit to the Fitness Centre, or simply taking in a drink and live music in Cuvée on Wednesdays and Fridays, I look forward to seeing you around the Club.

Dress Code: Smart Casual

Unless otherwise specified, all areas of the Club, including the Grill Room, 1892, Cuvée Wine Bar, patios and private function rooms have a dress code of smart casual. Smart casual attire includes collared or turtle neck shirts, golf or knee length shorts, and dress pants. Similar attire is required for ladies. Denim is acceptable provided a collared shirt is worn and denim is of a solid colour with no fading, tears or patches.

All footwear is to be clean and smart. Casual thong footwear is not permitted outside of the fitness centre.
