Can you please share a bit about yourself and your background?
I am a founding partner at the law firm Lunny Atmore LLP, and practice primarily in the area of real estate, with a focus on lending work. I am originally from “back east” but have long ago stopped cheering for the Leafs. I came out to BC to study law at UBC, and it took just one summer living in Kits to confirm I was never moving away from Vancouver.
I am married to my wife, Kelly, and we have one daughter who is now in second year at Queen’s University. We live on the North Shore.
What would you say is your biggest professional success to date?
With respect to professional success, I would have to say it is annual chairmanship of a real estate conference for hundreds of lawyers where we canvas the hot issues facing real estate lawyers. I am proud to lend my time to this conference and help keep my colleagues up to date. On that note, I would like to point out that our profession is wonderfully congenial and we are not all aggressive pit bulls. Serving one’s client’s best interest does not always necessitate being nasty, despite the general perception of us lawyers.
What motivates you?
I am strongly motivated by the industriousness of my clients. Whether it is the young couple who finally saved enough for that first home purchase, or the active businessperson, I am lucky to be part of their venture and I am motivated to be my very best for them.
What is your vision for success in your own life?
Professional success to me is being surrounded by happy, busy people, whether it is the lawyers and staff in my firm, or my clients. I really enjoy when I see things being created.
How do you spend your time when you need to relax?
I have the world’s best man cave/garage, where I retreat to have a beer and watch football while taking on some home project. My wife and the neighbours know where to find me and they often keep me company in my retreat. TCC members are all welcome!
Why did you join TCC and what do you love most about the Club?
I joined TCC almost five years ago for very boring reasons: parking! But apart from that mundane reason, I have learned to embrace everything about the Club. I meet fellow members in Cuvée all the time. I really enjoy the fitness facilities and I take full advantage of the events the Club hosts. As both my wife and I are transplants without any family nearby, we have taken advantage of the Club’s beautiful events, including Easter, Mother’s Day brunch, and the annual Father Daughter dance, to create family traditions. Community is important to me, and the fellowship at the Club really enhances those traditions.

Dress Code: Smart Casual
Unless otherwise specified, all areas of the Club, including the Grill Room, 1892, Cuvée Wine Bar, patios and private function rooms have a dress code of smart casual. Smart casual attire includes collared or turtle neck shirts, golf or knee length shorts, and dress pants. Similar attire is required for ladies. Denim is acceptable provided a collared shirt is worn and denim is of a solid colour with no fading, tears or patches.
All footwear is to be clean and smart. Casual thong footwear is not permitted outside of the fitness centre.
